THE PRUNING PROCESSES
Fig.1 and 2. Espalier Pruning. From one or two branches. On supports (posts and wires). Makes better use of space and the production is greater. It facilitates mechanised harvest although in our case, when harvesting by hand, this labour proves to be much more complex. The pruning of one branch is reserved for very poor soils, since less energy is required.

Fig.3. Goblet Pruning. With three branches and 5 or 6 grapevine shoots. This type of pruning is the system we use most in our vineyards. Although the wind causes more breakage of green vine shoots, the grape bunches conserve the moisture better, which is very important for us. Only manual harvest is possible with this pruning system.
